OostCampus, celebrated as an example of Universal Design

El Ministerio Flamenco de Igualdad de Oportunidades y su iniciativa La Semana del Diseño Universal incluyó el pasado jueves una visita a OostCampus.
La multisensorialidad del edificio y la accesibilidad "natural", que no sólo hace fácil a todo el mundo moverse por él, sino que lo hace evitando dispositivos y marcas estigmatizadoras, fue subrayada en una serie de presentaciones por los expertos en accesibilidad (y arquitectos) Peter-Willem Vermeersch de la KU Leuven y Bart Vermandere de Westkans. 

The Flemish Ministry of Equal Opportunities initiative The Week of Universal Design included last Thursday a visit to OostCampus. 
The multisensoriality in the building and the "natural" accessibility that not only makes it easy for everyone to get around, but does so avoiding any stigma-loaded devices and marks, was emphasised in presentations by accessibility experts (and architects) Peter-Willem Vermeersch of KU Leuven and Bart Vermandere of Westkans.

In the finals for the Building of the Year Awards 2012

Two of our works were nominated for the Archdaily Building of the Year Awards 2012.

Five finalists were shortlisted per category, out of a total of 2.700 entrants from all over the world.

• OostCampus was in the final selection of Public Facilities.
• Academie MWD was among the five nominated Cultural Buildings.

The nomination and the final decision were the result of a collective intelligence process, an unprecedented world-scale voting system open to all.

We thank everyone who supported either project, getting us to the finals. We did not make it past that point, but we had fun!
Our congratulations to the winners, BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group) and partners Topotek and Superflex, as well as Ingarden & Ewý Architects.

 

Academie MWD official opening !!

La inauguración oficial de la Academie MWD será el próximo 8 de Septiembre de 2012 a las 18:00.
Además, se inaugura una exposición sobre nuestro trabajo en el vecino CC Westrand.
El domingo 9 de Septiembre, Westrand y la Academie MWD estarán abiertos al público en el contexto del Open Monumenten Dag (equivalente al Día de la Arquitectura)

The official opening of the Academie MWD will be on the 8th of September 2012 at 18:00.
In addition, an exhibition of our work will be open in neighbouring CC Westrand.
On Sunday, September 9, both Westrand and the Academie MWD will be open to the public in the context of Open Monumenten Dag (equivalent to the Day of Architecture)

De officiële opening van de Academie MWD is voorzien voor zaterdag 8 september 2012 om 18 uur.
Daarnaast zal er een tentoonstelling van ons werk in het naburige CC Westrand.
Op zondag 9 september zal Westrand en de Academie MWD geopend zijn in het kader van Open Monumenten Dag.

OostCampus Official Opening !!

La inauguración oficial de OostCampus está programada para el viernes, 15 de junio de 2012. El sábado, 16 de junio y Domingo, 17 de junio, hay días de visita para los vecinos del municipio. Si el tiempo lo permite, habrá una fiesta al aire libre en la noche del sábado (Volksfeest). La reubicación de los servicios administrativos se realizará del viernes 29 de junio al domingo 1 de julio. El lunes 2 de julio, OosCampus estará en pleno funcionamiento.

The official opening of OostCampus is scheduled for Friday, June 15th 2012. On Saturday, June 16 and Sunday, June 17, there are visiting days for the residents of the municipality; weather permitting, this will include an open air party on Saturday evening (Volksfeest). The relocation of the administrative services will be held from Friday 29 June to Sunday 1 July. On Monday 2 July, OosCampus will be in full function.

De officiële opening van OostCampus is voorzien voor vrijdag 15 juni 2012. Op zaterdag 16 juni en zondag 17 juni zijn er bezoekdagen voor de inwoners van de gemeente; ook een open lucht Volksfeest op zaterdagavond, als het weer het toelaat. De verhuis van de administratieve diensten vindt plaats van vrijdag 29 juni t.e.m. zondag 1 juli. Op maandag 2 juli gaat de dienstverlening in OosCampus effectief van start.

Academie MWD Dilbeek forest façade in production

El bosque de Wolfsputten está siendo encapsulado en piezas de vidrio, según nuestro diseño para la Academia MWD en Dilbeek. Estas son algunas de las piezas - que realmente parecen piezas de laboratorio! Haz click en la imagen para ampliarla.
Sven Drooghmans (en la foto) está siguiendo personalmente cada paso en la fabricación y montaje de la fachada óptico-dinámica. Su empresa familiar, Drooghmans Geveltechnieken, construye este enorme rompecabezas de 72 metros de longitud por 16 metros de altura, que es el último capítulo en el plan de obra del edificio.

Wolfsputten forest is now being encapsulated in pieces of glass, following our design for the Academie MWD in Dilbeek. Here are some of the pieces - they really are like laboratory glass plates for a microscope! Click on the picture for a closer view.
Sven Drooghmans (pictured) is personally following every step in the preparation and construction of the optical dynamic façade. His family firm, Drooghmans Geveltechnieken, is building this enormous jigsaw puzzle, 72 metres long by 16 metres high. This is the last chapter of the building plan, and then it will be completed.
